Mashamaite moves to Chiefs

Former foes will now be team mates: Tefu joins Tshabalala at Chiefs

Ever since news that Valery Nahayo would move to Belgium came out, the rumour mill in South Africa media has been busy as scribes sought to find out who his replacment would be. Well it looks like Nahayo's replacement has been found in a matter of hours.

The player is Wits captain Tefu Mashamaite. His current coach at BIDVEST Wits Roger De Sa has confirmed that the deal has been finalised.

“Tefu wanted this move and he has served us very well. I believe as a club we’ve have helped him improve as a player. He was made captain and took on the responsibility well.

“Considering that we signed him three years ago from the Vodacom League I think he has progressed well and we wish him all the best,” De Sa has said.

The deal is believed to have cost Chiefs R1.5 million, even though no official from Wits or Chiefs is willing to confirm this.

Gould, the preferred candidate before the capture of Mashamaite, appears to have set his sights on going to play in Europe, with Russia and England being the likely destinations.

Mashamaite is expected to partner steely Zimbabwean defender Thomas Sweswe in the heart of Chiefs defence next season.
