Netherlands survived a final minutes Uruguay scare to qualify for their first World Cup Final in 32 years, after holding on to a 3-2 victory over the South Americans at the Green Point Stadium on Tuesday night. That semi-final match was Cape Town's last World Cup match.

The Dutch masters were holding onto a comfortable 3-1 victory over Uruguay until the 90th minute when Maxi Pereira curled a shot beyond Maarten Stekelenburg to give this match a tense finish, at 2-3.

The Dutch captain Giovanni van Bronckhorst gave his team the lead in the 18th minute from a move that did not look like it was threatening at all to Uruguay. He controlled a pass from about 35m.
