Enyeama in dream move to Lille

Enyeama has moved to French Champions Lille in a four-year deal

Brilliant Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who held the world spell-bound with his man-of-the-match performances for the Super Eagles during the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, has finally realised a move to a Champions League club, Lille of France.

Enyeama has confirmed that he has moved to the recently crowned French Ligue 1 champions Lille, moving from Israel where he spent six years playing from Bnei Yehuda and Hapoel Tel Aviv.

"I can confirm that I have finally signed a four-year deal with Lille of France and I am happy that the move will boost my performance for Nigeria and the club," the 28-year-old recently told Complete Sports.

At Lille, Enyeama has the opportunity to renew his romance with UEFA Champions League football.

At Lille, the Nigerian reigning Footballer of the Year will have to fight it out with  championship winning keeper Mickael Landreau. He was effectively signed as a back-up to the first choice keeper, but given his vast talent, Enyeama could end up becoming Lille's number on goalie.

The expectations of many African soccer lovers was that following Enyeama's superb performances in the Super Eagles colours, big European teams would line up for his signature after the World Cup.

The talented Nigerian had to wait a whole year before a big European team could come knocking on his door for his signature. As hey say, its better late than never. Indeed his vast ability was crying out for a bigger stage than Israel.
