FC Platinum continue good form under Gumbo

Will Rahman Gumbo"s midas touch bring title to FC Platinum this season?

Zvishavane-based Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side FC Platinum followed up their impressive 2-0  victory over Highlanders last week with crucial 1-0 away  victory at a difficult venue, the colliery Stadium of Hwange over the weekend.

The 1-0 win was a successive victory for the Platinum miners, since Rahman Gumbo took over as coach, following his return home from Botswana recently.

Donald Ngoma scored his team's solitary goal, and is slowly establishing himself as the new PSL team's reliable striker, having now scored in two successive games. The striker was playing division one football only last year.

Ngoma scored in the 67th minute after some brilliant run by Benjamin Marere from the right pulled veteran keeper Timothy Sibanda in to leave the young striker with a yawning net at his mess.

The victory has brought Platinum on level points with leaders Motor Action, but trail the champions on goal difference, with a goal difference of plus 9 compared with the Mighty Bulls's plus 12.

While Platinum were celebrating, Motor Action and three other Harare based clubs were singing the blues over the weekend.

The champions were held to a very disappointing 0-0 draw by struggling Kiglon.

CAPS United.who only last week fired 4 goals past Masvingo, were back to their inconsistent self when they failed to break the stubborn resistance of Monomotapa who held them to a goalless draw.

Dynamos were worse off  as they succumber to another shock 1-2 loss at the hands of Blue Ribbon.
