Gullit Sacked by Trek Grozny

Dutch soccer legend Ruud Bullit, who was given one match to prove himself on Tuesday against Perm failed to avoid the chop after his team succumbed to a last minute 0-1 loss, leaving them lying on 14th position on a 16-team log..

Club President Ramzan Kadyrov had given an ultimatum to Gullit that Terek must win at Amkar Perm on Tuesday or face the axe.

After the 0-1 loss Kadyrov announced bu telefax the departure of the former Chelsea and Newcastle United coach.

"Gullit will no longer train Terek. Under him, the team have played exceptionally poorly this season," read the club president's statement.

Gullit himself contends that nomatter what result his team would have achieved, the writing was already on the wall.

"I don't think it would have mattered if I had won or lost," said Gullit.

Benjani on a Free transfer list

The Barclays English Premier Soccer League has announced a list of players who are on a free transfer this summer in England. Former Zimbabwe skipper Benjani Mwaruwari ia mong the big names on that list. Benjani however has told reporters in Zimbabwe that he will be signing a one-year new contract with Blackburn later this month.

Eto-o to switch to England?

Inter Milan star striker Samuel Eto-o Fils has torched speculation about his future at the San Siro club after he announced that he was considering a move from Inter, with the Barclays Premiership being his preferred destination.

"The Premier League is an idea I've been thinking about for some time," Italian media reported Eto'o as saying in a television interview in Cameroon.

"The question is deciding on the right club. I've had offers from top teams but I still have to see if I'd be able to integrate into the sides."

Gervinho in talks with Arsenal

Championship winning star midfielder with new French champions Lille, Ivorian Gervinho, will soon open talks with Arsenal with a view to move permanently to the English giants before the new 2011/2012 season begins.

Lille general manager Frederic Paquet has confirmed the imminent beginning of talks with Arsenal.

"He wants to go and has developed contacts with Arsenal.

"He has expressed a desire to go to England. We will soon have talks with them and see what they offer," Paquet said.
