Proline, URA in row over Mugabi

Yasin Mugabi will stay at Proline for at least two more years, the club have said.

URA coach Alex Isabirye earlier told Daily Monitor they had secured the services of the former SC Villa goalkeeper, only to attract heated reactions from Mujib Kasule’s camp.

"Yasin is still our player," said the Proline coach

"His contract runs out in October this year. Just two weeks ago we paid him Shs3m, which he actually signed for, and extended his contract for the next two years. His two-year contract is Shs5m, and he has already taken Shs3m of it," Kasule said.

Mugabi has already spent two years at Proline.

A communique signed by Proline secretary William Bakkabulindi, emphasised their position.

"If URA FC has indeed talked to him or negotiated with him on any level," it read, "then they’d be doing that illegally.

"But we trust that our relationship with URA is impeccable and that they would do the right and legal thing if they wanted to talk to any of our players."

Elsewhere, Proline have acquired Fire Masters’ Paddy Muhumuza and Andrew Kidega from Gulu each on a four-year deal. The duo will fill in gaps left by six other players, who left Proline for Spanish side San Roque recently.
