Musona to complete Hoffenheim move in a week

[Posted 15 Jul 2011]

Golden boy of Zimbabwean football Musona. Will he become a Hoffenheim player by end of next week?

According to Kaizer Chiefs Football Club, Knowledge Musona will become Germany Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's player within a week's time.

The Club's official website reports that Chiefs and the German topflight club are at an 'advanced stage' following the player's short assessment with the club during their current Austria camp.

The club vaguely reported that the trip to Austria where Musona and Chiefs General Manager Bobby Motaung hooked up with Hoffenheim who are on training, was successful, without giving details.

"Kaizer Chiefs and German Bundesliga outfit, TSG Hoffenheim are at an advanced stage of the negotiations for the player, Knowledge 'Smiling Assassin' Musona and it is anticipated that the deal will be concluded over next week or so.

"It was a successful trip for the player who flew to Germany on Sunday and joined the team for the preseason in Austria," the club statement said.

The Chiefs negotiator in Musona's planned Germany move, Bobby, was reportedly locked up in negotiations with Hoffenheim in Austria on Wednesday night, to finalise the deal, which is hoped to secure the Zimbabwean ace striker's move to the European soccer club.

Details about the Wednesday's meeting have been very sketchy, and it appears like Chiefs and Hoffenheim prefer to play their cards close to their chest regarding  the player's proposed move.

Musona only joined the Germany club on Monday, and was only able to get an assessment only on Tuesday, and on Wednesday night the two negotiating clubs were supposed to have sat round the table to thrash out the details of the deal.

On Friday, Chiefs report that "it was was a successful trip for the player who flew to Germany on Sunday and joined the team for pre-season in Austria."

It remains unclear as to why the deal should only be concluded in a week's time, if the trip was successful.

Could it be that Hoffenheim can only conclude the deal upon their return to Germany in a week or so time?

It follows logically that if Chiefs could report by Friday that the trip was successful, then Musona only went to Austria for a "physical assessment and medicals" as earlier reported by Bobby Motaung and corroborated by Mike Makaab.

Soocer followers and media houses in South Africa and Zimbabwe will be following developments and possible announcements keenly and closely.
