CAPS, Gunners match abandoned, Bosso draw again

Chunga inflicted damage for the 2nd time in less than 5 days against former paymasters CAPS

Three of Zimbabwe's traditional giants' title campaigns appear to be faltering as the young turks continue to set the pace in the Premier Soccer League. CAPS United were on the verge of losing their match against Gunners at Rufaro Stadium when fan-trouble led to the abandonment of the tie, with Moses Chunga's Gunners leading 2-0.

Emotions were understandably running high among the Green Machine supporters (whose history of violence when their team loses is well documented) following the team suffered three red cards. David Sengu, Evans Gwekwerere and  Edmore Chafungamoyo were sent off.

Gunners and CAPS played to a 0-0 draw during a mid-week fixture, and the CAPS fans could not stomach a loss at the hands of Chunga, whom they forced out of the club just over a week ago.

Now CAPS face a heavy punishment from the PSL authorities, in addition to what looks like an obvious loss of three points following the second half abandonment reportedly caused by the home team's ritoing fans.

In Bulawayo, Highlanders fans endured another 0-0 draw, but this time at home to little Kiglon in a PSL encounter on Sunday. To their credit, the Bosso fans behaved themselves well and took the defeat in a true sportmanship spirit.

Earlier on Saturday, log leaders Platinum Stars continued their march towards the title with a vital 3-0 home win over Masvingo United, while Motor Action ensured that they keep within a shouting distance with a 1-0 victory over formwer champions Monomotapa.

Chicken Inn frustrated Dynamos whom they held to a 0-0 draw in Bulawayo.
