Chiefs call press briefing on Musona's Hoffenheim move

[Posted 27 Jul 2011]
[By Brighton Mupangavanhu]
Has Chiefs and Hoffenheim now finalised Musona"s proposed move to Germany?

Kaizer Chiefs have called a press conference tomorrow at Naturena Village, presumably to make an announcement on the outcome of the negotiations for the transfer of Knowledge Musona to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Speculation is rife in South Africa that the media coference called by Chiefs for tomorrow has something to do with the fact that Amakhosi have been engaged in negotiations with Hoffenheim's representative, Sporting Director Ernst Tanner over the last 24 hours.

Tanner arrived in the country earlier this week, and has been locked up in meetings with Chiefs at Naturena.

Suddenly, Chiefs' Media Relations Officer Luthando 'Trompies' Sibeko invited the media through the club's website to an announcement.

"Kaizer Chiefs cordially invites you to an urgent Press Conference for an ANNOUNCEMENT," read the statement. Mark the emphasis on announcement.

When Chief Editor  asked Trompies to confirm if the announcement has anything to do with the presence of Tanner in South Africa, the Chiefs PRO declined to confirm this or pre-empty the subject matter of the announcement.

"I kindly ask you to attend the media briefing tomorrow at 11am Sir, but I can assure you, it is a big ANNOUNCEMENT!," added Trompies.

Will Musona immediately leave for Germany? Has Hoffenheim decided to buy the player but loan him out to Chiefs for a season? Have the parties declared that they have now reached a deadlock over the outstanding matters of the deal? If the deal has been successful at last, what is its value?

The above are the questions which most journalists will be carrying to the press conference at Naturena Village tomorrow since Chiefs have decided to remain mum on the issue, understandably though.
