Simba Sithole nets first goal for Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns' new signing Simbarashe Sithole enjoyed the feeling of netting his first goal in the Brazillians' colours after grabbing a goal in a high scoring encounter against Giyani Spurs in a pre-season Mopani Mayoral Cup in Limpopo.

Sithole, who was signed from Zimbabwe crack side CAPS United during pre-season, was featured by new Downs coach Johan Neeskens in the final of the Cup, which the Pretoria side won 5-0 against Giyani Hotspurs.

The local Mopani side surprisingly pipped PSL three-time champions Supersport to the place in the final, beating the Gavin Hunt-coached side 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of regulation time.

The other goals in the final were scored by Mabhuti Kenyeza who grabbed a brace, while Nigerian Gbolohan Salami and Jabulani Shongwe added the other goals.

In the semi-finals, Nyasha Mushekwi  scored a double as Downs beat fellow PSL side Jomo Cosmos 4-2. Mushekwi has been scoring regularly for Downs in the pre-season matches played thus far and has been exhibiting great goal-scoring form.
