 Kampala City Council dismisses Majwega

Kampala Capital City Football Club (KCC FC) have dismissed reports claiming their striker Brian Majwega has joined former Uganda Super League champions Bunnamwaya.

Majwega, who was KCC’s shining light last season especially the first round of the campaign when he orchestrated the team’s play, renewed his contract with KCC FC mid last season and it runs out in December 2012, the club said yesterday.

"The reports are unfounded and untrue. Super League players are directly employed by Super League clubs and the terms and conditions pertaining are a matter between the club and the player," KCC spokesman Aldrine Nsubuga explained.

He added that clubs are subordinate to the Uganda Super League, the body to which they subscribe to with a representation of a director on the 16-member board of directors.

Nsubuga added, "Bunamwaya is attempting to create a row and de-stabilise KCC FC after losing Eddy Mubiru and beating them to the signing of Titus Lubega. Kampala Capital City Football Club is a big club who will not take Bunnamwaya’s attempts to unsettle our pre-season preparations with folded arms."

Elsewhere, former Cranes striker Andrew ’Fimbo’ Mukasa yesterday scored the opener as Ngo edged Nvubu 3-2 in a Bika by’Abaganda tournament fixture at Nakivubo.

Prior to yesterday, the national league’s record goal scorer had not played a competitive game since 2008 due to several health complications.

Mukasa recently resumed training with league champions URA and yesterday’s display, which saw him ward off two defenders before scoring, could be a sign in the right direction.

Mukasa also set up Wilson Kaggwa for Ngo’s third goal.
