Musona injures groin at Hoffenheim training

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim striker Knowledge Musona is the latest Bundesliga team's key players to join the casualty list after he tore his groin tissue at training on Wednesday under the watchful eye of coach Holger Stanislawski.

ďItís extremely unfortunate. Knowledge had just come through his first few training sessions and was easing his way into the squad. Of course, we hope that after further scans the injury isnít as serious as first thought,Ē said the manager on the club's website.

Musona joins Tobias Weis and Vedad Ibisevic who were lost to the club early into the season due to injuries.

The 21-year old Musona missed Hoffenheim's first match, a 0-1 away loss to title favourites Hannover 96, after arriving only two days before match day.

The Zimbabwean international had to watch the 1-0 victory over champions Borussia Dortmund following the injury and is only expected to be ready for action at least in three weeks time.

The injury makes Musona a major doubt for the must-win 2012 African Nations Cup qualifer against Liberia at home in early September.

Warriors coach Norman Mapeza might have to stick to the Edward Sadomba/Khama Billiat combination which appeared to do well against Zambia last wednesday.

Key players, striker Nyasha Mushekwi and defender Thomas Swaswe  are already lost to the Warriors due to suspensions.

Mapeza's team appears to have adequate replacements in the form of Sadomba and defender Daniel Veremu. Another option in central defence is South Africa-based central defender Carlington Nyadombo of ABSA premiership's club Amazulu.
