Downs-Celtic reject Ndlovu secure Israeli move

There is a saying that goes "the discarded material is one man's sought after raw material". That saying proved true following Dino Ndlovu's successful trials in Israel, leading to a four-year deal at a topflight European club, Bnei Yehuda.

Only last season, Ndlovu, a bright prospect in South African football, and a member of the Shakes Mashaba coached Under 23 side, Amagluglug was considered surplus at Bloemfontein Celtic to whom he had been loaned out by Mamelodi Sundowns.

After his release by Celtic after failing to make an impact in the Free State over the last season, Ndlovu found himself surplus to requirements even at his club, Sundowns.

Now, Dino the reject is playing in a topflight European league, something which many more established names in the ABSA premiership have been struggling to get.

“Dino has signed a four-year deal with Bnei Yehuda. I just received his clearance from Sundowns and I have sent it to the club,” Walter Mokoena, who represents the player, revealed to Kick-Off on Thursday.

“He played in the Israel Super Cup match on Saturday against Bevan Fransman's Hapoel Tel Aviv, he created the second goal (the match ended 2-2). In fact, he told me that the goal he created was after he beat his countryman, Bevan. He said he had a good run against Bevan,” Mokoena added.

Ndlovu is expected to make his debut for his new club is he gets registered on time for Saturday's fixture.

Ndlovu has tried his lukc unsuccessfully at Portsmouth in the past. Early in August the former Platinum Stars prodigy failed to impress Ajax coach Maarten Stekelenburg during a trial at the Cape Club.

That will all now be water under the bridge, as Dino will grab the opportunity in Israel with two hands to prove to all and sundry that he has the talent to break into bigger European soccer leagues.
