Can Ajax cool Billiat interest forever?

Billiat, on the wanted list of top South African and some European clubs

Khama Billiat's three goals in Ajax colours in the new season, and a continuation from where he left off last season has no doubt attracted interest from some big Gauteng clubs and European clubs too.

Before Knowledge Musona was snapped up by TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, there was rumour in Sosuth Africa that the same club was pondering swooping on Musona's Warriors team mate Billiat. BNothing came of those rumours.

The rumour mill appears to be busy in South Africa and discussions dominating social networks including Twitter and Facebook in South Africa are that Kaizer Chiefs are considering swooping on Billiat to complete the missing link in their good looking squad this season.

There are even suggestions that Chiefs are planning a R8 million swoop on Ajax's most prized asset at this stage.

Nothing has been confirmed by Chiefs or Ajax, but Ajax CEO George Comitis has insisted that they are not going to sell Billiat, having already lost Thulani Serero to parent club Ajax Amsterdam, with Clayton Daniels and Willard Katsande having joined Gauteng giants Chiefs and Memlodi Sundowns.

Given the financial muscle of Gauteng's three top clubs, Chiefs Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, and given the form of Billiat, it may not be long before Ajax lose him.

There is also a strong chance that Billiat could have attracted the interest of European suitors given his starring roles in Zimbabwe's national soccer team, the Warriors in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

Without a doubt, Billiat has become an integral part of coach Norman Mapeza's Warriors squad, and with that comes the exposure to foreign scouts.

The advantage that Billiat has over even his contemporaries like Serero and Musona is his ability to take on defenders at full speed and his versatility. The Ajax man can play as a right sided midfielder, a second striker or an out and out striker.
