Eto"o scores on debut for Anzhi

New Anzhi Makhachkala signing Samuel Et'o Fils was introduced as a 57th minute substitute to score a goal on debut in the 80th minute and rescue a point for his new club Russian Premier league away at Rostov in a league match on Saturday.

The arrival of Eto'o saw about 1500 Anzhi fans travel all the way to Rostov just to watch their new signing in action, and the former Inter Milan striker did not disappoint in front of goals.

Belarus midifelder Timofei Kalachev had put Rostov 1-0 up in the 72nd minute, and Anzhi was staring defeat and Eto'o had to come to the rescue.

Eto'o is probably the most decorated player plying his trade in Russia's top flight soccer league at the moment. The Cameroon captain has three Champion League titles under his belt, two with former club Barcelona and one in 2010 with Inter.

The Cameronnian has also won two African Cup of Nations titles with his country, and has been named CAF African Footballer of the Year a record three times, and achieved this in a row.

"It was not an easy game," said Eto's new manager at Anzhi Gadzhi Gadzhiev.

"I think Rostov were playing beyond themselves, so we needed to give all we had to avoid a defeat."
