ENGLAND: Hargreaves destined for Spurs?

With Tottenham Hotspurs reeling with injuries to key players this early season, free agent Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich player Owen Hargreaves has proven to be an interesting option for Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.

Redknapp is rumoured to be interested in signing Hargreaves, after the player was shown the door at United at the end of last season because of limited appearances caused by injuries which dogged his Old Trafford career.

The former England midfielder had to post pictures on YouTube just to prove his fitness to potential suitors. And Redknapp and others such as West Brom and Leicester  appear to have gotten the message.

Spurs' worries include Sandro who has has had knee surgery, while Jermaine Jenas and Tom Huddlestone are still being treated for knocks and have not featured for Spurs for a while.

Wilson Palacios is destined for Stoke, while Luka Modric has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane, with Chelsea his expected destination.

With the final day of transfer being Wednesday, and only hours away, anything is possible. Redknapp knows he can lose Modric in a matter of hours. Thats why Hargreaves has proven a hot option for the White Hart Lane boss.

Hargreaves is certainly a risk option, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Gaps in the Spurs squad were terribly exposed by Manchester City who walloped them 5-0 only on Sunday, and Redknapp might feel that the English player is a worthy risk.
