Zim Warriors beat Liberia 3-0 ,move to 2nd

The Gallant Warriors of Zimbabwe lived up to their nickname when they dismissed Liberia 3-0  in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations 2012 qualifier played on Sunday at the National Sports Stadium.

Norman Mapeza's well-drilled and in-form boys showed their intention to ground out a crucial win right from the first whistle, grabbing the first goalin the 25th minute through new play-makerand man of the moment Willard Katsande.

Another player who has been in great form for the Warriors, Ovidy Karuru, grabbed a second goal right on the final minute before the break.

Zimbabwe came back from the break with the strategy which sought to consolidate their lead and prevent Liberia from grabbing any chance of a come-back. They were cautious going forward, but decided to press on in the final 15 minutes.

Again, Ovidy Karuru had a hand in the Warriors' third goal. He beat his marker on the left, andswung in a beautiful cross, and Khama Billiat responded with a clever tap-in to give the Warriors a 3-0 victory.

Following the return to form by Mali which coincided with a total collapse of Cape Verde, the Malians emerged 3-0 victors in match played in Bamako, giving them pole position in Group A,regrdless of the outcome of today's contest in Harare.

That result in Bamako is not exactly the outcome which the Zimbabweans were praying for. Yet all that the Warriors and their supporters can do is to prepare well and beat Cape Verde away and pray that the Liberians, who now out of the reckoning, can play spoilers and at least hold the Malians in Monrovia.
