Round up of Warriors players in Europe

Mike Temwanjira is on fire in Romania. Here Mbozha is seen celebrating a goal last weekend

Warriors players' clubs abroad, particularly in Europe have  met with mixed fortunes in their clubs' league matches over the last two weekends. Good news for the Warriors coach Norman Mapeza is that some of his injured stars are back in contention for places at their respective clubs. Worrying news is the fact that some Warriors or potential Warriors players remain sidelined by injuries or bad form at club level.

Germany Bundesliga

Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's striker Knowledge Musona appears to be on the mend and boosted his chances of returning to action soon. The former Kaizer Chiefs man was named on the Hoffenheim substitute bench for the team's surprise 4-0 win away at Mainz in a match played before a crowd of 31500 fans at Coface Arena in Mainz on Saturday afternoon. Hoffenheim have now won three of their five opening fixtures, amassing 9 points and a plus 5 goal difference.

Musona's club though, have proved to be unpredictable, losisng at home a week before last to Werder Bremen, and then picking up six points on the road, beating Augsburg in the second week of the Bundesliga season, following it up with the thumping of Mainz last weekend.

France's Ligue 2

Ovidy Karuru's Ligue 2 side US Boulogne have been draw specialists this season, drawing their opening six matches, including a 1-1 draw at home to Arles on Friday night. With coach who appears bent on a defensive style, attack-minded players like Karuru find themselves sacrificed to the bench to accommodate the coach's preferred style, despite the fact that Karuru shows that he is a young player on top of his game when he turns out for the Warriors in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Karuru has scored one of the six goals scored by Boulogne, but the club has also let in six goals in the six drawn matches.

Rems top Ligue 2 with 16 points from 6 matches played thus far.

Danish Superliga

In Denmark's topflight league, Warriors' attacking midfielder Quincy Antipas did not participate in SonderjyskE's surprise 1-3 loss at home to Horsens.

Only two weeks ago (28 August), Antipas led SonderjyskE to an emphantic 4-2 victory away to OB. The Warriors star scored a brace in the 60th and 84th minutes of that victory which catapulted his club to position three on the log. Following the 1-3 loss to Horsens, SonderjyskE dramatically dropped to 7th position on the 12 team league, anchored by HB Koge, Antipas' former club.

Belgium's Jupiler League

In Belgium, Cercle Brugge have dramatically climbed up to second position on the log, but there is no sight even on the substitutes' bench of former Warriors midfielder Honour Gombami who is reported to be available for selection following a return from two-year lay-off due to injury.

On Saturday, Gombami's club beat Vusa Nyoni's Germinal Beerschot 2-1 at the  team's home ground Jan Breydelstadion. Nyoni entered the fray only in the 47th minute, but could not save his team from defeat. Cercle sit on 2nd position on the log with 13 points, and a plus 3 goal difference. They share the same number of points with top club Gent who boast a superior goal difference of plus 5.

Russian Premier League

In the Russian Premier League, Zenit is leading the log with 46 points, more than double the number of points Musa Mguni's Terek Grozny has accumulated thus far. Grozny are sitting on 10th posituion on a sixteen team league log, and have only managed a draw in their last five matches, losing four. Musa Mguni has appeared in only 13 of the 23 matches played thus far by his Russian club, scoring just once.

Poland's Ekstraklasa

In Polish topflight soccer, Dickson Choto's Legia Warszawa is sitting on position eighth on the log with 9 points after five matches, and have a game in hand against Costa Nhamoinesu's Zagłębie Lubin who are languishing in the murky waters of the relegation zone. If Legia beats Lubin in their outstanding game, they could jump to the top of the log with 12 points. Current log leaders Korona Kielce are sitting on 12 points with a plus 3 goal difference, one less than Legia.

Choto is still out injured, while Nhamoinesu was an unused substitute in  Zagłębie Lubin's last league match, an away 2-1 loss to seventh-placed Ruch Chorzˇw on Friday night. Former Ekstraklasa top goal scorer  Zimbabwean Takesure Chinyama is no longer with Legia, having been released from his contract before the new season began.

Romania's Liga

FC Vaslui dangerman Mike Temwanjira is back to his best! The former CAPS united striker is back on the top goal scorers' chart this season after enduring a season wrecked by injuries last term. On Saturday, "Mbozha" led his team to a moral boosting victory over log leaders Dinamo Bucharest whom FC Vaslui beat 3-1 at home at the Stadionul Municipal, Vaslui on Saturday. Temwanjira opened scoring for Vaslui in the 42nd minute with a well-taken goal.

Mbozha also scored a week before, on the 28th August when Vaslui defeated Braşov 2-1 away from home, with the Zimbabwean netting in the 57th minute. On 21 August the big striker got a goal in a 1-2 shock losing cause at home to bottom team Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ. FC Vaslui sits on 7th position on the Liga table with 10 points from 6 matches.

Temwanjira himself has 3 goals to his credit and is just two goals away from the leading goal scorer in Romania  M. Niculae of log leaers Bucharest.

In the USA Major League Soccer, Mkhokheli (Keli) Dube has not been seeing game time at his club New England in the Eastern Conference of the MLS, sitting on the bench for much of this season. Sporting KC tops the MLS Eastern Conference with 40 points after 28 matches.

Joseph Ngwenya's DC United enjoyed a 3-0 away victory over Chivas USA at the The Home Depot Center (Carson, California) on Sunday, and the former Warriors midfielder sat on the bench through out that match. The victory did not do much to improve United on the log as they are stillperched at 5th position in the Eastern Conference, with 34 points from 25 matches, and have three matches in hand and have the potential to overtake Sporting KC should they collect the nine point on offer in all their outstanding matches.

In the Western Conference of the MLS former England captain David Beckham's LA Galaxy lead the pack with 55 points from 28 matches.
