Return of PSL action:FC Platinum, Bulls at home

Can Gumbo"s FC Platinum hold their nerves, beat CAPS & return to the top of the Castle Lager PSL log

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action will resume this weekend with some mouth watering clashes lined up by the PSL on Saturday.

Early pacesetters Motor Action, who currently lead the log on superior goal difference, and 2nd-placed FC Platinum will entertain very tough opponents on Saturday.

The Mighty Bulls are home to surprise package, newcomers Chicken Inn, in a match to be played at the Motor Action Sports Club in Harare, while Platinum host back in-form CAPS United at Mandava Stadium.

Chicken Inn have collected 12 points in eleven matches this season, underlining their ability to collect points on the road, despite the fact that they are in their maiden season in Zimbabwe's topflight league.

Hebert Dick, who captains the Bulawayo outfit will miss the curcial tie in Harare due to suspension, and the newcomers are expected to flounder in his absence. On the other hand, Motor Action will seek to capitalise on any weaknesses in the visitors' camp and cement their position at the top.

The champions however have woes of their own, with news that Passmore Bernard, Isaac Masame and Conrad Whitby will miss the match due to suspensions. The Bulls however will welcome the return  from injuries of key strikers Kuda Musharu and Tawanda Nyamandwe.

Motor Action coach Joey Antipas reports that morale is high in the Bulls camp going into the weekend matches.

“We are in the right frame of mind now. The morale is high after winning the BancABC final. But we don’t have to be too excited about it. We have to guard against complacency," Antipas said.

Platinum, will work hard to avoid any slip-ups against the Green Machine, that appears well oiled again after a worrying slump following the axing of Moses Chunga, a few games into the season.

The former champions, now under former son Lloyd Chitembwe, are capable of derailing the platinum miners' title aspirations, and if they emerge from Mandava with a win, or even a point, and the Bulls win in Harare, that could give the Bulls a huge advantage at the top.

On Sunday, high-riding Dynamos will host relegation threatened Zimbabwe Saints at Rufaro Stadium, and will be hoping for slip-up from two teams above them, the Bulls and Platinum, so they can catch-up or at least reduce the gap at the top three.
