Nkatha"s brace rescues a point for Leopards

Zimbabwean international Kingston Nkatha  performed heroic feats for visiting Black Leopards when he bagged two well executed goals to earn Lidoda Duvha a point away in Rustenburg over the weekend, against home team Platinum Stars.

On Staurday afternoon, at Royal Bafokeng Stadium,Stars raced into a 2-0 lead through Solomon Mathe and former Leopards star Robert Ng'ambi in the 22nd and 45th minutes respectively.

Home fans must have started to expect an avalanche of goals against Sunday Chidzambwa's club who are recent returnees to the league of the big boys in South African football, but it was not to be as Stars found out later in the second half.

Leopards, who had started the match brightly, returned from the break the more purposeful of the two sides. Chidzambwa's men played some neat passing game, characteristic of  teams coached by the former Zimbabwe Warriors mentor in the past.

In one such beautiful move in the 50th minute, Nkatha was at the end of the move to remind fans that he still has what it takes to compete at this level, and he clinically finished the move, scoring from a 12 yard. It was Stars 2-1 Leopards.

From then on,the visitors pressed the home team, and Nkatha always looked dangerous when in possession.

The former Free State Stars man returned to torment Stars with only eight minutes before the end of the match. And what a quality finish it was for Nkatha in the82nd minute!

The match ended 2-2, and with the share of spoils, Chidzambwa was the happier of the two managers. Owen da Gama will feel let down by his players. He views the draw as two points dropped at home, and for Lidoda Duvha,it is certainly a point gained on the road.

The point gained by Leopards leaves themon 12th position, while Stars now occupies 10th position on the ABSA Premier Soccer League log.
