Billiat, Rusike lead Ajax"s rout of FS Stars

In-form striker Khama Billiat netted his third league goal when Ajax Cape Town managed a 3-1 victory over visiting Free  State Stars in an ABSA Premier Soccer League match at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.

In a match which lacked the fluidity associated with particularly the home side's neat passing game, both sides played to a goalless first half.

Tafadzwa Paul Rusike's 35th minute strike was disallowed after referee Victor Gomes adjudged that the fiery left winger had handled the ball before slotting home.

Shortly after resumption,Thulani Hlatshwayo took advantage of some sloppy marking from the visitors, and from inside the box he picked his spot to give the Urban Warriors the much needed lead.

Zimbabwean international Rusike had to get nameon the score sheet after probing through out the night, with that goal coming on 72 minutes, and what a thunderous 35 metre-drive it was! Kennedy Mweene never had the chance to see the ball nestle into the top right corner.

Edward Manqele could have reduced the arrears for the visitors six minutes after Rusike's strike, but missed agonisingly for the Free Staters when he mistimed his overhead kick, missing the ball completely in the sixteen area.

Khama Billiat, who last week was the hero for the Capetonians at the Lucas Moripe Stadiumby grabbing the winner on death, proved yet again how dangerous he is in the dying moments of matches, when he burst into the box to round-off Mweene for Ajax's third of the night.

With  the three points collected not so convincingl, the Urban Warriors will enjoy top spot, only for a few hours, with 13 points from 6 games and a goal difference of three.

Kaizer Chiefs, who play Bloemfontein away from home on  Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns who will visit wounded Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadiumon the samed day,and Supersport United who host Platinum Stars on Sunday, can all overtake Ajax if they collect maximum points in their matches.

One will have to always remember that a bird in the hand is worthy two in the bush. The three former champions are never guranteed victories against their opponents this weekend.
