Mukamba spoils Dynamos' Mbada win

Mukamba spoils Dynamos

If there was an ugly part on the fantastic and morale-boosting victory by Dynamos over perennial rivals CAPS United in the Mbada Diamonds Cup, then it has to be the behaviour of Dynamos' Denver Mukamba who needlessly provoked CAPS fans in celebration.

Mukamba's shenanigans, a wild celebration in front of CAPS fans accompanied by a crazy "I have silenced you" finger gesture, followed the only goal of the match by Archieord Gutu which settled this firce contest between Harare giants.

The Dynamos midfielder is not new to controversy and disciplinary problems. He has been dismissed in the colours of the Warriors a number of times, and has also seen his fair share of suspensions in leaguye matches.

Provoking CAPS fans who sensed a fourth consecutive loss at the hands of bitter rivals Dynamos was the act of of madness which the Premier Soccer League should descend upon to send a strong message to other PSL players that such conduct is procribed by the league.

"The problem is l am so passionate and I fail to contain my excitement and when you are on the field of play you won't be thinking of anything else and you would be entirely focused on playing and winning," Mukamba claimed recently.

The youngster has however taken time to apologise to the CAPS fans.

"I would like to apologise to CAPS United. I am really sorry I made a mistake," said Mukamba.

"I was supposed to celebrate with my supporters but instead I ran there and lifted my finger saying I have silenced you.

"I was just so excited and couldn't imagine that we had scored and we were on course to win again against CAPS United," Mukamba said.

Though the youngster has apologised through the media to CAPS United, the PSL should still take corrective measures to end out a strong message to current sponsors like Mbada and would be sponsors that the league is ready to protect the image and interests of sponsors.

Mukamba has the talent to take his football career outside the borders of the country, but no professional team will want to be associated with his persistent bad conduct.

Time has come for Dynamos to consider sending the youngster for rehabilitation, because clearly he is doing his career and conduct record no good by needlessly involving himself in unnecessary skirmishes with football authorities.

It is extremely sad to devote passages in a publication on bad conduct from a player such immense talent like Mukamba. Mukamba is so talented to an extent that it will not be an exegaration to predict that if he sorts his head, he can fit into a topflight European club easily.
