EUROPE: All this week's Champions League, Europa results

The UEFA soccer season spiced up the global soccer calendar with some mouth-watering Champions League and Europa League action across Europe.

In the Champions League, Manchester United's surprise 3-3 home draw against lowly FC Basel at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. There however no surprises for other top guns such as Real Madrid who trounced Ajax Amsterdam 3-0 in Spain.

In the Europa League, Tottenham Hotspurs had to dig deep to avoid a humiliating surprise at home at the hands of rookies Shamrock Rovers, beating them 3-1 in the end following an early scare. FC Vaslui who were favoured to win their home match after a gallant 2-2 away draw at Lazio two weeks back, though Mike Temwanjera had put them ahead in the 76th minute with a 2-1 lead, but collapsed to suffer a late goal as ten-man FC Zurich forced a draw.
