GERMANY: Hoffenheim end Bayern"s winning streak

In-form Germany Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich returned from the Rheun Necker Arena with just a single point after  0-0 draw and just escaped a defeat at the hands of on-fire home team TSG 1899 Hoffenheim who were unfortunate not to get maximum points on Saturday afternoon.

The Bavarians were saved by excellent goalkeeping service from German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer who weathered storm after storm fromthe marauding Sinsheim outfit's strikers to keep a clean sheet for the 11th consecutive match.

Roberto Firmino nearlyput the hosts ahead on 22 minutes but the outstanding Neuer made a diving  saved to deny the striker.

Hoffenheim, popularly known as the Village team in the Bundesliga, should count themselves extermely unlucky when they were denied a penalty when Gylfi Sigurdsson was felled in the box by Daniel Van Buyten.

Bayern had chances of their own towards end of the match. One such chance camein the the 70 minute mark, when Thomas Muller skilfully took down a cross at the edge of the six-yard box before Isaac Vorsah made a last-ditch challenge to knock his volley out for a corner.

Hoffenheim made a couple of changes in the second half, throwing into the fray three substitutes Bominik Kaiser, Knowledge Musona and Sven Schipplock.

The new men tried their best, but the killer goal remained elusive until the end of the game.

For Musona, it was his taste of Hoffeheim's toughest competition thus far in the season against German's best, and clearly one of the favourites for the UEFA Champions League crown this season, Bayern Munich.

Bayern out-muscled expensively assembled Manchester City in the Champions League group match during the week, making a real announcement that they aim at winning Europe's premier club competitionthis season.
