Mguni, Bhasera return from injury in Europe

Two of Zimbabwe's potential Warriors returned from injuries which kept them out of contention for starting berths at their places for many months.

Musa Mguni of Russian Premier League side Terek Grozny returned to the starting line-up for his club in a crucial 1-0 win over Amkar Perm'  in a league match played on Saturday at the Stadion im. Akhmat-Khadi Kadyrova in Grozny.

Mguni played for the entire match in a show of confidence from the coach. The Zimbabwean was full value for the money as he played a crucial role in his team's win, a victory which lifted them to 11th position on a 16-team log.

There is now very little likelihood that Mguni's team will be relegated at the end of the season, after accumulating 28 points from 28 games.

The bottom two teams Tom' Tomsk and  Spartak Nal'chik have 20 and 21 points respectively. The former is all but relegated, while Spartak with a game behind, still harbour the chance to escape the dreded chop.

In England's League Two, a fourth tier league, not considered highly competitive in Europe, Onismor Bhasera returned from injury and played just under 5 minutes in Plymouth Argyle's loss at home to Swindon.

The former Warriors player was introduced as a 90th minute substitute, after featuring for his club's reserves last week.

In Germany's Bundesliga, TSG Hoffenheim continue to gradually introduce Knowledge Musona to the rigours of one of Europe's most competitive leagues. Musona was a second half substitute, entering the field in the 68th minute in a 1-0 home win against Borussia VfL Mönchengladbach.

In Denmark, Quincy Antipas' SønderjyskE was clobbered 4-1 by Horsens at home to drop to 9th position on the log, and following a poor run of form, are heading towards relegation zone, unless they stop the rot soon. Antipas was substituted in the 84th minute, and remains his club's first choice striker.

Vusa Nyoni's Germinal Beerschot was held to a 2-2 draw at home by Mechelen at the Olympisch Stadion in Antwerp on Saturday. Beerschot needed two own goals by Mechelen in the 78th and 84th minutes to come from behind after falling 0-2 behind in the 36th and 74th minutes.

Nyoni has been an important player for both Beerschot and the Warriors in 2011. He is a player who is currently enjoying his game. Beerschot is currently lying 9th in a league of 16 teams.

Meanwhile, Nyoni's former club Cercle Brugge, home to former Highlanders' midfield kingpin Honor Gombami, continues to enjoy good form, as they defeated OH Leuven at home, but Gombami remains on the sidelines despite having recovered from injury recently.

Cercle are fourth on the log and Gombami remains a member of the squad for this season.

In Romania, Mike Temwanjira's FC Vaslui were inactive following their Europa League action midweek in which they lost 0-2 to away to Sporting. Vaslui will fulfill their league match against Astra Ploieşti on Monday 24 October. The match kicks-off at 17h00.

Temwanjira was injured and missed the 0-2 loss to Sporting on Thursday, and coach Hizo will be sweating on Big Mike's fitness going into this crucial match. Vaslui remain 6th on the log, and if they avoid defeat at Astra they will maintain their position. A victory will not give them a better position.
