ENGLAND:Man City, Newcastle, Arsenal in great form

Taking a closer look at the Barclays English Premier Soccer League table can reveal the shifting of the balance of power in what is considered the toughest soccer league in the world. Manchester City are finally beginning to realise the fruits of their investments, and are befittingly top of the world.

The Citizens mantained a five point lead over Manchester United with a laboured 3-2 victory away at new boys Queens Park Rangers on Saturday to move to 31 points from 11 matches. A Manchester United win at home against Sunderland has not changed the Citizens' stranglehold on top.

Goals from Edin Dzeko, Yaya Toure and David Silva ensured that City recovered from being 2-1 down after 69 minutes to eventually emerge 3-2 winners away from home.

The race to the premiership title started as a ding-dong battle between bitter neighbors until City thrashed their neighbours 6-1 in their last encounter to open up a five point lead and send home the message that the Citizens are here to change the balance of power in the premiership.

Another team that has been quietly making an ascension towards the summit of the log is Newcastle United. For a team that only returned to the topflight league recently, Newcastle have done remarkably well to now sit on 3rd position on the log.

On Saturday, the St James Park faithfuls cheered their teama to a 2-1 victory over struggling Everton to move to 25 points, and a 3rd position on the log, ahead of Chelsea, Liverpool and fading giants Arsenal.

Though Arsenal have lost their place, at least for now as one of the best four teams in the English Premiership, they have of late been in great form, and are currently sitted on 7th position following their 3-0 demolition of West Bromwich at the Emirates Stadium.
