Nyoni scores again in Belgium

Zimbabwe Warriors' midfielder-cum defender Vusa Nyoni has scored again for his Belgian Pro-League (topflight) club Germinal Beerschot in their 2-0 win over RAEC Mons on Saturday.

Nyoni, who plays more as an attacking midfielder for Jacky Mathijssen's Beerschot side that has been posting impressive results of late, scored the first goal for Beerschot in the 24th minute, to set up a 2-0 victory gainst Mons at home in a league match.

Fellow midfielder, Argentinian Hernán Pablo Losada added Beerschot's second goal in the 71st minute to seal the sweet victory, which has now lifted Beerschot to 8th place on the log with 13 games having been played so far in the European season.

Nyoni has so far scored twice in the league for Beerschot this season from his midfield position, and has been probably his club's most consistent performers this season. His first goal came in a 1-1 draw against Club Brugge on 2 October this year.

The former Cercle Brugge midfielder joined Beerschot at the beginning of the 2010/2011 season. He scored two goals for his former club for each of the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons.

When and if Zimbabwe Warriors choose eto shift from a traditional 4-4-2 formation to a 3-5-2 formation which employs the right and left backs as attacking midfielders, Nyoni will be the perfect player to fill that role on the left channel of midfield.

Nyoni has also performed well above average for the Warriors. In fact, he has been one of the Warriors' most consistent performers in the failed 2012 Afcon campaign, and has only been overshadowed in terms of performances by Ovidy Karuru and Knowledge Musona.

Ever since the injuries to England-based Onismor Bhasera and Poland-based Costa Nhamoinesu, the versatile former Highlanders and Amazulu player has been shifted to the left back position by coach Norman Mapeza and has performed with distinction.
