Ghana calls up Schlupp, Taknyi

The Black  Stars of Ghana continued with their crusade to search for their talent dotted around Europe, and their efforts of late have resulted in a surprise call-up of English Championship side  Leicester's youthful  fiery striker, Jeffery Schlupp.

Leicester's 18-year old Schlupp is of Ghanaian nationality and yet little was known to the media regarding his Ghanaian nationality.

Schlupp has so far scored 5 goals for Leicester. He is big and imposing, and is a player who is difficult to ignore given his hunger for goals and ability to shield the ball away from defenders. The Black Stars are known for lacking quality finishers, with Asian-based striker Asamoah Gyan being the only recognisable striker with an international profile.

The Leicester man Schlupp becomes the second player with an international profile to be snapped up by the Ghanaian Football Association, who seem bent on leaving no stone unturned as they seek to strengthen the Black Stars  and increase capacity within the national soccer team.

Recently, the GFA succeeded in getting Fifa to switch the nationality of ex-German youth international Charles Taknyi  of St Pauli to enable him to be a Black Star.

Taknyi has been included by coach Goran Stevanovic forthe  twoupcoming friendlies against Sierra Leone on Saturday and another match against Gabon on Tuesday.

The GFA also successfully switched the nationality of ace AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng, and he went on to become a World Cup star for Ghana in South Africa 2010.
