Winners of African 2014 World Cup qualifying prelims

Namibia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique are among the African countries who posted the biggest wins in the 2014 Fifa World Cup African qualifying preliminary rounds played between last Friday and Tuesday.

The Brave Warriors completed a 8-0 aggregate victory over African light weights Djibouti folowing identical 4-0 wins between Friday and Tuesday.

The Democratic Republic of Congo who ironically qualified for the World Cup in 1974 as Zaire, had to play preliminaries after going down in terms of rankings. They showed no signs of having lost their glory when showing no mercy against Swaziland whom they walloped 5-1 at home to complete a 8-2 aggreagte victory.

Mozambique also made light work of Comoros, triumphing 4-1 to now join neighbours Zimbabwe, Guinea and African powerhouse Egypt in what promises to be a very tough group.

In Nairobi, the Haramee Stars of Kenya beat Seychelles by 4-0 to record a 7-0 aggregate victory.

There were also wins for Congo Brazzaville, who, despite being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sao Tome e Principe on Tuesday, emerged 5-1 victors.

Lesotho managed to beat Burundi  on an away goals' rule, after the two teams were tied 2-2. The Crocodiles won 1-0 in Maseru before falling 2-1 in Bujumbura.
