Confirmed African friendlies for 11 August

Ghana to face South Africa on 11 August at Soccer City

Cape Town

As the Warriors remain in the dark about who their 11 August friendly opponents are, neighbours South Africa lead a host of other African nations who have long confirmed their friendly opponents.

African teams seek to utilise the friendly matches for a final tune up of squads before the commencement of the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifiers to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

South Africa have tied up a friendly match with 2010 World Cup quarter-finalists Ghana, set for the World Cup final venue Soccer City Stadium. Tickets for this friendly are already on sale and within an hour after the opening of sales, 250 tickets were bought. The South African public is still engulfed under a heavy cloud of the World Cup euphoria.

Mali, Zimbabwe's Group A opponents, have secured a date against fading continental giants Guinea.

Gambia have been invited by Israel for probably a first ever friendly match between the two countries penciled for Tel Aviv on the 8th August.

West African giants Senegal  will play hosts to Cape Verdes, who are also in the same group with COSAFA Champions Zimbabwe.

Africa's best assembled outfit who are fresh from a disappointing performance at the World Cup by their standards, are set to face former World champions Italy in London on 10 August.

On 11 August Algeria will host 2012 Nations Cup co-hosts Gabon in Algiers. Fellow co-hosts Equatorial Guinea have been invited by Morocco for a clash in Rabat on the same day.

A Samuel Eto'o captained Cameroon will travel to Europe to face-off 2012 European Championship co-hosts Poland.

Nigeria and South Korea have unfinished business and have agreed to renew their world cup rivalry in Seoul. The two teams played to a 2-2 draw at the FIFA 2010 World Cup which saw the Super Eagles missing out on their slim chances of progressing to the second round. South Korea qualified instead.

African Champions Egypt will have a date with Burkina Faso in Cairo. The Pharaohs were surprise absentees at the World  Cup in South Africa. Confusing and unconfirmed rumours doing the rounds have it that Egypt have also invited Malawi for yet another friendly match in August.

Angola have the priviledge of dating 2010 World-Cup semi-finalists Uruguay in Lisbon, Portugal on the 11th August.
