Bafana pay price for Zim loss

South Africa dropped four places, climbing down from 49 in October to now sit on 53 in the latest Fifa rankings following their 2-1 loss away to Zimbabwe on November 15.

Bafana Bafana had done very well, holding Africa's number one ranked nation to 1-1 draw in the Mandela Challenge Cup friendly played three days before the team's visit to Harare.

That loss to Zimbabwe was bemoaned by many a Bafana bafana fans as if South Africa had lost to Djibouti or Mauritania. It is understandable that noone wants to los a derby and the one between the Warriors and Bafana is a fierce rivalry between Southern Africa's top two ranked nations.

South Africa achieved their best ranking in many years this year when they soured to 38th in the world under Pitso Mosimane. Yet in the world of soccer, things can go horribly wrong with just a single loss. Now Pitso the hero in the last 6 months, is enduring demands from fans that he resigns.
