Dynamos, Motor Action face off in Mbada Cup final

Malajila and Mutuma are expected to spearhead Dynamos" attack against the Mighty Bulls in Cup final

The much awaited final of the reportedly richest cup final in Zimbabwean history, the Mbada Diamonds Cup, will finally take place between former league champions Motor Action and new champions Dynamos on Sunday at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

Both teams are at full strength, having had their players exempted from national duty when the Warriors team left for Tanzania to take part in the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

During the week, the two sets of players took some time off from training to do some charity work in Harare, courtesy of the sponsors. Mbada Diamonds yesterday, led the Mighty Bulls and de Mbare stars to bring christmas presents to the handicapped children at the Isheanesu Home for the Disabled in Glenview.

There is so much at stake for both teams in the cup final. Winners of the trophy stand to pocket $75 000 in prize money, while runners up will be $50 000 richer at the end of the day. The sponsors have pledged to bankroll the winners' participation in the CAF Confederations Cup to the tune of $150 000, an added incentive to the trophy winners.

Both Dynamos and Motor Action appear to have been enticed by the added incentives, and the new league champions are currently languishing in the valley of decisions as they seem not to have made up their minds on whether to take part in the Confed Cup or Champions League.

There is just one option open to the Bulls after they finished the league in position three on the log, and that is the Confed Cup. If de Mbare were to opt for the Confed Cup over the lucrative champions league, they will make history in Zimbabwe or even in Africa, as the first club to take such a decision.

Motor Action are itching for some kind of a better finish to the PSL season after they crumbled like a deck of cards towards end of the season to meekly surrender their title to Dynamos.

The Bulls have to their advantage, the fact that they completed the league in good form, and have already won a major cup tournament  BancABC Sup8r Cup. The team has reported a clean bill of health and is raring to be the first club to lift the inaugural Mbada Diamonds Cup and win bragging rights in the city.

Dyamos on the other hand, are bouyed by their league success, and will be hoping to celebrate a cup and league double at the end of the day on Sunday.

The match will be handled by South African referee Daniel Bennet, and will be beamed live by Supersport on channel 9.
