Amidu poised for Kaizer Chiefs move

Zimbabwe Under 23 attacking midfielder Abbas Amidu is reportedly on the verge of making a January move to Johannesburg based ABSA Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs after impressing coach Vladimir Vermezovic during a two week trial stint in December.

After Ajax Cape Town hesitated to sign the Black Mambas star following a 10-day trial period in South Africa's mother city, Amidu ended up at Naturena, training with the title chasing club with a view to winning a contract ahead of the January transfer window.

The Warriors' trialist appears to have done enough to convince coach VV to add yet another Zimbabwean, to the four who already occupy all the foreign players' slots at Naturena, save for one, for which Amidu has been auditioned to fill.

Veteran Warriors midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha who is registered as a local by virtue of holding a permanent residence permit is the fifth Warriors player on Amakhosi' books this season.

Negotiations have reportedly started between Amidu's representatives, Mambas and Chiefs, with a view of a January move for a talented young player who has had trials  at Kalmar FF in Sweden during 2011 mid-year, with the Swedish topflight side opting to only sign Archieford Gutu, leaving his compatriot leaking wounds of missing out.

If Chiefs sign Amidu, it will be a great investment for the club as the youngster certainly has a  bright future, and coach VV proved his ability to develop young players when he carefully guided the now Germany-based Knowledge Musona to stardom at Naturena two seasons ago.

VV  is working on grooming stars like Lincoln Zvasiya and George Lebese who are certainly set to take the ABSA premiership by storm between this season and the next.

Amidu will therefore be in good hands, should the contract negotiations between the two clubs become fruitful  and he successfully joins Amakhosi in January.
