Amidu"s chance to emulate father at Kaizer Chiefs

Reports  emanating from Harare indicate  that Aces Academy graduate Brian Abbas Amidu was offered a chance to emulate his father  Hussein when he clinched a three year deal to don the gold and black jersey of South African glamour club Kaizer Chiefs.

Just  before the dawining of the new year, Amidu revealed to Daily News  of Zimbabwe that he had finally put pen to paer in a three year  deal with Amakhosi, and is due to join his new teammates  after the reported ABSA premiership club's 15th January friendly match against Ghana.

Details  of the deal are not yet clear at the time of writing and neither Kaizer Chiefs now the playeer'sagent  Edzai Kasinauyo have yet confirmed the deal.

Amidu attended a 10-day trial with the Naturena club and reportedly impressed coach  Vladimir Vermozovic during the period.

The reported move appears to make sense given the expected  departure of Bafana Bafana midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala who stepped out for a trial with UK's Championship club Crystal Palace.

If the move has indeed happened,  young Amidu is set to emulate his father Hussein, a  fierce defender  during his days who had a stint with Chiefs at the peak of his career.

Abbas will become the sixth Zimbabwean at a club that already boasts Warriors players Tinashe Nengomasha, Jimmy Jambo,Thomas  Sweswe, Willard  Katsande and Lincoln Zvasiya.

Amidu is a product of the famed Aces  Academy that produced former Chiefs star striker Knowledge Musona, Ajax  CapeTown's Khama Billiat and current Chiefs' defender  Zvasiya.

The 21-year old Amidu was on the books of police team Black Mambas who survived  relegation thanks to the contribution of players  like Amidu.
