Mutero arrives in SA for Bidvest Wits trial

Zimbabwe Under 23 trialist Trevor Mutero, who is based in England has rrived in South Africa at ABSA Premiership high-riding club Bidvest Wits for an assessment period.

Mutero, who scored a number of goals in a recent Metropolitan Super Cup for the Under 19 tournament in Cape Town, has attracted the interest of Wits who will assess if the player has what it takes to set their second half of the 2011/2012 season alight.

The player, who until recently was on the books of Championship club Reading, hogged the limelight last year when he issued a come-get-me plea to Johannesburg glamour club Kaizer Chiefs. Interestingly, Chiefs decided to give Mutero's Under 23 team mate Abbas Amidu a trial instead, and have reportedly snapped up the former Black Mambas attacking midfielder.

Reports say that the18-year old Mutero relocated to England in 2004 from Zimbabwe following the death of his father after which he ended at Reading with who he was to spend five years till 2011.

During mid-year of 2011, Zimbabwean paper The Standard made sensational claims that premiership club Stoke City and another unnamed topflight league club in England were after Mutero's signature.

Nothing came of those reports linking the talented left footed midfielder to premiership football in the UK. His contract with Reading could not renewed after the parties apparently failed to agree on Mutero's personal terms.

If the Zimbabwe national Under 23 team player signs for Wits, it will be his first contract with a topflight club. Wits coach Roger De Sa is kown for his love for young players and he seems to get the best out of youngsters.

Mutero should be in good hands if he makes the grade at Wits.
