Al-Merreikh, Al-Hilal dominate Sudan final AFCON squad

Mazda will lead his locally-based Sudanese against the foreign-based dominated teams in Group B

Mohamed Abdallah on Thursday announced a final 23  Sudan squad for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Equaltorial Guinea and Gabon dominated by the country's biggest clubs, Al Merreikh and Al Hilal.

The two giants who ae perrenial CAF Champions League campaigners, have provided between themselves 19 of the 23 squad players. The current champions Al Merreikh have 10 players, while Al-Hilal have 9 players.

Sudan are in Group B of heavy weights Ivory Coast, Angola and Burkina Faso. Their first tie is against the Elephants on 22 January in Malabo, followed by a tie against Angola on 26 January in the same city, before moving to Bata on 30 January for a final group match against Burkina Faso.

Goalkeepers: Mouez Mohjob (Al Hilal), Bhaldien Mohammed (Al Merreikh), Akram Al Hadi (Al Merreikh)
