Sofapaka’s and Uganda Cranes

Sofapaka midfielder Mussa Mudde is set to leave for trials in Turkey next week, the club’s management has said.

Elly Kalekwa, the president of Sofapaka, said yesterday that Mudde, who has been a target of Tanzanian Premier League giants Simba Sports Club, will be in the Eastern European country with an unnamed top club.

"I can confirm that Mudde has a high possibility of playing in Turkey," said Kalekwa, who signed the combative Ugandan international from his country’s military side Simba. "He has been invited for trials and I am confident he will make the cut."

He said the club is still pushing for the transfer of teenage striker Enock Agwanda from Sony Sugar FC.

Agwanda, discovered during the 2010 Safaricom Sakata Ball championships, is with the club but did not leave with the squad yesterday for friendlies in Tanzania.

Linked up with old coach

Midfielder Titus Mulama is still in talks with St Eloi Lupopo and may join the Congolese side soon.

Former Gor Mahia goalkeeper Ronnie Kaginzi has linked up with his old coach at K’Ogalo, Gideon Ochieng, at Nairobi City Stars.

Kagunzi, among 10 players released from Gor, joined City Stars alongside winger Levi Muaka, last season’s most expensive player when he moved from City Stars to Tusker but dimmed at Ruaraka.

Also joining City Stars are Silas Aluvisia and John Amboko, both formerly with AFC Leopards, Tusker’s Francis Akango, Congo United duo of Nicholas Ochieng and Andrew Ongwae, Boniface Onyango (Sony Sugar) and Collins Tiego (Rangers).

Thika United have called up to 10 players identified during the Brookeside Diaries-sponsored East African Secondary School football championships in Mbarara, Uganda, last year, assistant coach James Omondi said.

The players who excel during the trials will be selected to play in the Kenyan Premier League this season.
