Chinyama, five others set for Egypt trials

News from Zimbabwe is that former Legia Warsaw and former Poland's topflight ( the Ekstraklasa) Golden Boot winner Takesure Chinyama might move to Egypt's Premier League even without kicking a ball for his new club Dynamos FC of Zimbabwe.

Chiny, as the player was popularly called by the adoring fans of the Polish giants Legia, recently signed for Dynamos in the Castle Lager PSL, but is set for trials with an Egyptian topflight club Ghazi El Mehalla.

Ghazi El Mehalla, who were demoted to a lowe division in the 1996-1997 season, only to bounce back during the 1999-2000 season, have not only invited Chinyama for trials, but three other Zimbabweans.

CAPS United's Washington Pakamisa and FC Platinum's Tendai Nyamadzawo have also been invited for trials by the same North African club.

"We are Ghazi El Mehalla Football Club, licensed to play under the Egyptian Football Federation and hereby invite the following players - Washington Pakamisa, Matthew Tendai Nyamadzawo and Takesure Chinyama - for a series of trials recruitment at our club this season," read the invitation letter from Ghazi El Mehalla.

The players are expected to train with the Egyptian club between January and March.

Evans Gwekwerere of CAPS is another player who has attracted Egyptian interest, and is expected to be tested by Al Assiouty Sporting Club.

It looks like the company that is facilitating the trials for the six players, EuroAfrica Group, through its subsidiary company Afritten plan to take the six players who also include FC Platinum players Norman Maroto and Charles Sibanda, intend to take the players to more than one club in Egypt for trials.

Clubs ear-marked for a trial stint for the Castle Lager premiership players include Misr El Makssa, Harby Misk and El Geish.

Nyamadzawo is expected to leave Harare for Cairo today, with the rest of the players following a week later.

Should players such as the FC Platinum trio of Nyamadzawo, Sibanda and Maroto succeed in the trials, it could be a blow to the 2011 runners-up who desperately need the likes of Sibanda for their Champions League campaign.

FC Platinum will not be the only team that will lilely suffer the effects of brain-drain. Dynamos are in the same boat. They are set to lose three of their key strikers registered for the Champions league.

Apart from Egypt-bound Chinyama, Dynamos have Cuthbert Malajila who is away in Pietermaritzburg on trial with Maritzburg United, while 2011 Castle Lager PSL Boot winner Rodrick Mutuma has attracted strong interest from Ajax Cape Town, who whisked him away ffrom Gaborone for a trial after the Botswana friendly match played there about a week ago.
