Warriors squad for Burundi tie

[Posted 12 Feb 2012]
[By Brighton Mupangavanhu]
Towering defender Dickson Choto of Legia Warsaw in Poland is back with Warriors!

Earlier we ran a story about the names of new players called to the enlarged squad of 24 announced this weekend by the Zimbabwe senior national team technical team led by stand-in coach Rahman Gumbo.

The squad is a true testament to the fact that Zimbabwean soccer has talent. Even after 82 players were excluded fromselection  (more than half of whom are talented individuals and are capable of giving Zimbabwe two competitive sides), Gumbo was still able to name a  strong squad of 24.

It is leadeship at the top and poor funding which is the main reason why Zimbabwe has struggled to qualify for major  tournaments. When the teamis prepared well, they beat good teams like AFCON 2012 final contestants Zambia 2-0 like the team did in an international friendly towardsthe end of lst year.

As for talent, Zimbabwe  has it in abundance.

Here is the list of the 24 men squad announced by Gumbo and his assistant David Mandigora.
