Sthembiso Ngcobo scored in his official debut for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs overcame the challenge of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Charity Cup second semi-final match.

Sthembiso Ngcobo, Chiefs' major off-season signing, headed in Siphiwe Tshabalala's follow-on cross from a fierce tight-angle shot by Knowledge Musona, which was punched into play by Calvin Marlin.

The former Free State stars striker scored with literally the last kick of the match in the 3rd minute of injury-time. By the time the game was 90+2 minutes old, the score-line was 0-0 and all expectations were that the two teams would be seperated by a penalty-shoo-out show.

With the match heading for the penalty lottery, Chiefs made use of their midfield dominance. Musona received a pass from Mthokozisi Yende who had a brilliant afternoon.

The 20 year-old Musona beat two defenders on the right, drew Marlin in and let fly a screaming low shot which the Sundowns keeper punched away to the left. Tshabalala was there waiting, and evaded a tackle from a defender to cut in a cross which Ngcobo headed in with a diving header.

Chiefs will now meet Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Charity Cup final at the Soccer City stadium later this afternoon.

In the earlier match, Pirates beat the tame challenge of Amazulu to book a final place. Isaac Chansa scored with an out- of-the-box piler which beat the Amazulu goalkeeper in the 58th minute.

Mthokozisi Yende put on a delightful midfield show, even though the youngster needs to learn to release the ball earlier and avoid over-elaborate displays to please the crowd. Even though the official Man-of-the-match award was given to Matthew Patterson,'s man of the match was Yende. will cover live the Telkom final between the two SOWETO giants.
