Easy next round passage for Zim's CAF reps?

Easy next round passage for Zim"s CAF reps?

Zimbabwe, who have the rare priviledge of fielding four teams in the Confederation of Africa Football competitions have three teams who took part in the preliminary rounds of the competitions in February. Two of the teams recorded emphatic away wins, while the other managed a draw, also away. The fourth club,  Dynamos will join the Champions League  action only in round 2.

Beezsports explores whether the passage to the next rounds of the two competitions is already a forgone conclusion for FC Platinum, Hwange and Motor Action.

FC Platinum recorded a 4-2 victory away at Green Mamba of Swaziland  during the weekend of 17 February. They host the  Swazis on Sunday at Mandava Stadium and it is difficultto see the visitors coming back to win by a 3-0 margin away from home.

It appears like the platinum miners are destined to meet El Merreikh of Sudan in the next round of the Champions League.

Hwange  did the same away at Jamhuri of Zanzibar whom they whacked 3-0 during the same weekend. Like their fellow countrymen from Zvishavane, the Colliery miners appear set for a next round dance.

Motor Action however, despite having scored a crucial away goal at Black Leopards, still have a lot of work on their hands, as they are straddling a tight rope. It was expected that given their strength as the 3rd best team in Zimbabwe's competitive league, the Mighty Bulls would steamroll over the struggling and modest ABSA premiership side of South Africa.

Leopards can easily score an early goaland park the  bus  in front of the home team, and progress to the next round. Alternatively, the Limpopo side can secure a 2-2 draw and sail through at the expensive of their more  illustrious opponents.

With the return of Kingston Nkhatha who is currently on fire, with 5 goals to his credit in the ABSA PSL across the Limpopo, Leopards are by no means for a side like Motor Action who struggle in front of goals.

Lidoda Duvha's exciting 3-4 loss away at Ajax Cape  Town on the last day of the first halfof their league, a match in which Nkhatha scored two of Leopards' 3 goals, is evidence of what the Limpopo side is capable of doing when their key striker returns to action.

A 0-0 draw will suffice for the Mighty Bulls, but they do not have the luxury of their compatriots who made their home ties much easier with convincing away wins.
